8 Places to Stop on Your Florida to Massachusets Road Trip

Day One

Florida

Your stop in Florida may depend on where your I-95 journey begins in the Sunshine State, but St. Augustine is a fantastic place to get out and stretch our legs. The oldest city in the U.S. lies in the northeast corner of the state, just 25-minutes from the highway. There are plenty of beautiful buildings to explore, including Flagler College and Casa Monica. Take a quick stroll through the Colonial Quarter (geared toward tourists but fun nonetheless) before taking a self-guided tour of the old Spanish fortress Castillo de San Marcos.

South Carolina

As you continue up I-95 on your Florida to Massachusetts road trip, you’ll venture through the low lying marshlands of Georgia to the open roads of the Palmetto State. Stop for a tasty lunch at a restaurant along the way before taking a quick breather at Santee National Wildlife Refuge. Continue north on 95 until you reach exit 181A, where you’ll find our serene Inn. Book a room for the night in advance, as well as a reservation for dinner at our restaurant, and savor a night in our intimate oasis. You’ll wake up to a gourmet breakfast before getting back on the road.

Day Two

North Carolina

The next destination on your Florida to Massachusetts road trip is the Tarheel State. If you only have time for one stop here, make it a visit to the U.S. Army Airborne and Special Operations Museum in Fayetteville. An array of replicas, exhibits, and fascinating history is on display in this unique and memorable attraction.

Washington D.C/Maryland

We recommend choosing between Washington D.C. or Maryland as the next stop on your road trip. If you want to enjoy more museums and sights in our country’s capital, a walk on the National Mall and through the Smithsonian is the best choice. If you want to pass through and grab some delicious Chaps Pit Beef or crack open some fresh Chesapeake Bay crabs along the Baltimore waterfront, Maryland is an excellent choice.

Delaware

Spend the night in Wilmington, Delaware at The Inn at Montchanin. Enjoy a spa treatment at the hotel, grab a beer at Iron Hill Brewery, or tour the stunning grounds of the Nemours Estate (a hidden gem).

Day Three

Pennsylvania

The last day of your Florida and Massachusetts begins with a quick trip through Philadelphia, where a stop at the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall is a must. Movie buffs and TV fanatics will love a tour of creepy Eastern State Penitentiary on the north side of the city.

Rhode Island

Skip through the busy roads and traffic of New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut before a quick stop in Rhode Island. There’s only once attraction worth a visit on a road trip, and that is The Breakers. This mind-blowing estate shows off the wealth and stature of the famous Vanderbilt Family and features breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Massachusetts

You made it! You reached your final destination on your road trip. Now that you made it Beantown, you can indulge in top-notch seafood (famous clam chowder), cheer on one of their four top-tier professional sports teams, enjoy the many historic quarters, and much more!
