“New from the Kitchen”
Recipe of the Month – December 2013
Desserts: Pecan Tassies
A recipe handed down from Patty’s Mom, this has become a holiday tradition in our family.
3 oz Philadelphia cream cheese
1 cup sifted flour
1 stick of butter or margarine
3/4 cup brown sugar packed
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
dash of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
2/3 cup broken nuts
Blend cheese and butter. Stir in flour. Chill for one hour. Shape into 3 dozen small balls and place into ungreased tiny muffin tins. Press dough with your finger into the shell, do not overlap the top.
Beat the egg, sugar and butter thoroughly. And the salt, vanilla and half the nuts. Put the other half of the nuts in bottom of the muffin tin cups and then add one teaspoon of the filling and place a half of a pecan on the top.
Bake for 25 minutes in a 325 degree oven. Cool in the pan.
