Meet the Staff
The staff is a very important part of your visit to Abingdon Manor and all have an eye for detail. Several of the staff have over 15 years service and everyone works hard to ensure your every wish is fulfilled. Read a little bit about each member of our team.
Our longest serving staff member Vermel started in April 1996. The “glue” at Abingdon Manor, as senior housekeeper she ensures our guest accommodations are always the cleanest and best kept. In the kitchen most nights she makes sure the”first line” of food safety (clean dinnerware) is optimized. She also knows all the secrets of the servers who treat her like their second Mom.
Sous Chef. Jeff has worked with us for 19 years helping to secure the AAA 4 Diamond rating for 13 consecutive years. Originally from California, Jeff has worked in food service and restaurants for 35 years. A terrific baker, Jeff makes many of the Inn’s desserts. He also helps with the monthly cooking classes, often instructing in bread and pasta making.
Curtis has worked at the Inn since March 1998, and oversees all of building and grounds maintenance. He has been involved in the transformation of the Inn including new construction, decorating, furniture refinishing and general building and equipment maintenance among many tasks.
Our current “senior” server Corrie has worked for us starting in 2006 when she was just 14. After graduating from Francis Marion University she took a position as a research biologist at Patheon Pharmaceutical in Florence where of course she excels.
Beth and Stephanie’s cousin (that’s how they got the job) Paige has worked for us since December 2011. She graduated a year early from Coastal Carolina University majoring in Physical Therapy where she was on the President’s list.
Lanelle is the breakfast cook and handles all the Inn’s laundry and maintains all the downstairs common areas. She opens up the Inn each morning and prepares the early morning beverage service before starting breakfast. Additionally, Lanelle sets the tables for dinner each day. She has worked at the Inn since September 2012.
Along with her twin sister Beth, Stephanie has worked at the Inn as a server since August 2015. Quiet and reserved she is focused in the dining room and likes everything to run smoothly. A senior at Latta High School, Stephanie also plans to attend college perhaps to pursue a Nursing degree.
Tim returned to Dillon County several years ago from Tampa to take care of his ailing father. With a long career in the hospitality industry, Tim loves to take care of the Inn’s gardens and is a very valuable member of the team.
Jenna starting working at the Inn as a server in March 2018. She is a senior at Latta High School and will graduate with an International Baccalaureate Degree next June. She is active with the school drama club and was last year’s stage manager.
Alec is a server who started at the Inn in March 2018 and is a senior at Latta High School. A talented musician who likes to play the drums he is also a singer and was the lead in the Drama clubs “High School Musical” this past year and tried out for the Voice. He plans to attend college to study music and one day become a high school music teacher.
