Outdoor Recreation Near Abingdon Manor

There is an array of recreation opportunities near Abingdon Manor. You’ll find plenty of parks, a new rec center, and other sporting options in our area! The state-of-the-art Dillon County Wellness Center offers a wide variety of aerobic and workout machines as well as a large weight room and separate aerobics room. We cover the daily rate cost for our overnight guests! Whether you want to explore the great outdoors or relax on our beautiful grounds, there’s something for everyone here at Abingdon Manor.

Kayaking/Canoeing

Kayaks and canoes are available to rent at the Little Pee Dee State Park, just 10 miles from the Inn. This park is home to a beautiful 54-acre lake, which offers plenty of recreation opportunities near Abingdon Manor. A portion of the Little Pee Dee River also runs through part of the park, creating a swamp that’s a unique place to explore.

Birding

Over 50% of all birds in North America travel through South Carolina throughout the year, creating plenty of excellent birdwatching opportunities. Our Inn has binoculars and field guides available guests to use before heading to one of the numerous parks in town. There are plenty of other parks in Darlington County and Dillon County, in addition to Little Pee Dee State Park.

Biking

With miles of country roads as well as quiet, shaded streets in town either a leisurely ride or an invigorating workout for guests traveling with their own bikes. The lack of large hills in our area makes it a great form of recreation near Latta.

Walking/Jogging

A two to five-mile course weaving through the many quaint avenues in Latta are great for all running and jogging abilities. The new Latta High School track also provides a nice and safe place to run or jog. The Latta Viking Greenway is a 1.5-mile trail through 300 acres of meadows, forest, and streams. Educational signage and seating areas throughout.

Fishing

Ponds, streams, the lake at Little Pee Dee State Park, and the Little Pee Dee River are abundant with a variety of freshwater fish. Make sure that you purchase your South Carolina fishing license before casting your line. There is also a catfish farm with stocked ponds in the warmer months.
