In this class, you will have the opportunity to explore your “artistic side”. The two-hour class will focus on creating your own 11 x 14 floral painting using acrylic pastels. The class is conducted by Erin Shaul. From Greenville South Carolina, she is a graduate of Lander University with a BS in Visual arts and a Masters of Arts in Teaching. Erin is the art instructor at the Latta Elementary School. In addition, she offers classes for students and adults in the community.

Flower Arranging

In the class the instructor will demonstrate arrangements in a basket, centerpiece, and wreath. Dollie Morrell, the class instructor is the principal of the Latta elementary school, a life long member of the Magnolia Garden Club and has been decorating with flowers for over 30 years.  The class will focus on utilizing natural materials to create dramatic, seasonal arrangements.

Cake Decorating

Cake decorating

This class will focus on tips and techniques which can be used for decorating cakes, cookies and cupcakes. During this class the attendees will learn to make a simple buttercream icing recipe and best techniques for tinting.  Each person will learn piping techniques using four different tips to create various effects.  The instructor will demonstrate each aspect and then assist each person in hands on decorating.  At the end of the class, each person will box up their creations along with their tips and recipes to take home. Amy Jones Powell is the instructor for the class.  She has been baking since she was a child learning from her Grandmother.  Amy worked at a bakery and restaurant for 3 years as the principle baker before starting her own business 7 years ago.
